The pictures below are just a few of our great coaches from our 3 locations. All Olympiad instructors and coaches are carefully recruited and undergo a screening process based on knowledge and experience in the sport of gymnastics as well as professionalism and personal integrity.
GORDON & JUDY SHAW
Founders & Owners of Richmond Olympiad
Judy and Gordon have B.S. & M.S. degrees in Health & Physical education and have been teaching for 55 years. They taught for both the Richmond and Chesterfield public school systems. In 1970, the first Olympiad was opened and has since been an intregal part in the physical and educational development of tens of thousands of Richmond area children. The Shaw’s are recognized for their outstanding contributions to the gymnastics industry in the United States. Their commitment to children and athletic excellence is an inspiration!

Were you a gymnast? If so what level: Level 10. Gymnastics competitor for 11 years. Slated for the Atlanta Olympics and had to scratch due to medical reasons. Spent four year as an acrobat in the Russian circus.
How many years with Richmond Olympiad: 19
Education & Where: University Bachelor in Design

Allie was a competitive gymnast at ROGC for 10 years, and even was team caption her senior year! She went on to attend University of South Carolina for undergrad with a degree in Exercise Science and then attended Shenandoah University to obtain her Doctorate in Physical Therapy.
Allie is a full time PT at an outpatient orthopedic/sports clinic in Glen Allen, VA. As of now, she is most often seen at our Gaskins location, coaching team girls. However, over the last 8 years, she has coached at both the Gaskins/Trade Road locations periodically with pre-team and up through level 10! Her favoriete event to compete was Bars, but her favorite event to coach is Beam.

Graduate of the Moscow Sports Academy. Coach at St. Kashira, Moscow Region’s Olympic Level Women’s Team for over twenty years. 39 years coaching experience in Russia and the USA. International coaching. Has coached developmental team up to Level 10.

13 years competitive JO Gymnast.
6 years coaching gymnastics.
2 years club gymnastics at JMU.
Men’s Team captain for 1 year.
3 years all star cheerleading.
Bachelors of science degree in kinesiology/exercise science and a minor in pre physical therapy.
